What an interesting pair of talks we had in late February and early March. The Royal Air Force and George’s favourite, ‘A week on ‘T’ Cut. In April we are really looking forward to hearing Steve Bowles talk on Guide Dogs, and John Millin talking about his father, ‘The Mad Piper of Normandy’, Bill Millin.
For those who have not seen John’s talk about his father, it really is a fascinating look into the man’s background, and what he did for Lord Lovat’s Number 4 Commando during the war. By putting himself into great personal danger Bill Millin played invading commandos ashore at Normandy, and marched with the Commandos, and Lord Lovat to Pegasus Bridge, to relieve Johnny Howard’s, parachutists.
If you are a prospective new member, looking at our web site for the first time, or a lapsed existing member, this is the one talk this year, not to miss.
We discussed at the last meeting, the possibility of linking up with Retford Ladies Probus Club this summer for a joint ‘Faith Lunch’ or ‘Faith Tea’. About half of those at the meeting thought this would be a good idea. So more details will follow next month, if they are interested.
We also looked at the idea of going to the National Arboretum for our summer outing in 2018. Again about half of those who attended our meeting liked the idea. As this trip is well over a year away, we do not need to arrange anything yet, but again details will be forthcoming.
Don’t forget our trip to RAF Scampton. Guy will be collecting your money at the next two meetings, on the 24th March and 7th April. We need your money, as we have to pay Kettlewells for the coach.
