At our last meeting we were “blessed “ with the appearance of the Rev. Canon Tony Kerswill who took us “Behind the vicarage door”. We learnt that he had been the Rector of the Victorian Men’s Trinity complex which has its own chapel set within manicured grounds and situated opposite the north gates of our award winning town park. We were entertained by many an eventful story – on one occasion he told us that he was walking down the street when a woman rushed up to him and asked him if he would marry her; as she was quite attractive he was rather flattered and replied, “Not just at the moment” but then he realised it was not him she wished to marry, but she wanted him to marry her and her fiancé! Canon Tony found when travelling on the old trains, whenever he entered a 6 seater compartment by sliding the door, conversation ceased immediately his dog collar was seen. We were told many more tales but they were rather sensitive so in future you must join us!
Our next meeting on Friday, 27th February, should be a hoot since we have Gerald Connor explaining the Role of the Community Safety Co-ordinator for Bassetlaw. If you would like to join us at 10 a.m. Google- Retford Probus or ring Chris on 01777 838421.
